The Transition Mission with Herb Thompson

Herb Thompson had a successful military career in which became the only person ever to earn the Green Beret and Army Drill Sergeant of the Year award.  Finishing up his military career he had doubts about leaving the military and becoming a civilian.  The Army was the only thing he knew since enlisting at the age of 17.

Like most veterans, the transition process was not easy for him, and he had bad days filled with self-doubt. However, after over 2,000 informational interviews, thousands of hours of internet research, and hundreds of hours of personal reflection, he found his way.  He landed a job at a top-tier Management Consulting firm and a seat in the Executive MBA program at Cornell University.  Herb is going to share his insights for a effective transition.

Herb doesn’t sugar coat the process and will have a discussion on the reality of transition.

  • The hard questions you need to answer.

  • Techniques to be successful.

Discovering your Values

Free Webinar | Friday, December 6 @ 12:00pm Pacific
1-hour interactive seminar + Q&A | 6 attendee max

One of the biggest themes I've learned in the 300 interviews I've done with military Veterans about their civilian career is the importance of knowing one's values. This process of self-discovery is something my guests have talked about having to do repeatedly throughout their career. The more one knows their unique values, the easier it is to pursue specific career objectives.

In this interactive webinar, Rebecca Nassiri will work with attendees to help them uncover their values. Rebecca has worked with countless executives and Veterans to help them identify and live in alignment with their values.

This is an interactive workshop - attendees should be prepared to participate on video in order to get the most out of this work.

A video will not be recorded for this event due to the sensitive information participant are likely to share as part of our discussion.

Sales: Building Consensus

Sales: Building Consensus

Free Webinar | Friday, November 26 @9:00am Pacific
1-hour presentation + Q&A | 25 attendee max

In the 300 interviews I’ve done with Beyond the Uniform, the Veterans I interview often talk about how vital it is - in nearly every industry and functional role - to have a solid sales skill set. Yet, most of these Veterans initially looked down on sales when they first left the military.

Tyler Johnston is a Marine Corps Veteran turned sales leader in the energy space, with nearly a decade of experience in sales in multiple industries.

In this webinar, Tyler teaches about 'Building Consensus'. This includes:

  • Step One: Building a coach in the target organization

    • How to identify an ally within the company to which you’re selling

    • How to understand the target company’s internal structure and decision-making process

    • How to collaborate and increase your chances of closing the deal

  • Step Two: Building resources and advocates in your own company

    • What resources are most helpful in educating your buyer and converting them

    • Finding internal allies and teammates to help close a deal

    • Finding the right internal champions to ensure a deal succeeds even after it is closed

  • Step Three: orchestrating Steps One and Two into an elegant solution to a client's problem

This one-hour webinar will include both instructions as well as a live question and answer session. It will also include guidance on how to take these tactics further after the webinar. If you’re unable to attend, all registrants will receive a video copy of the webinar. So you can watch afterwards, or review any points of particular interest.

About Tyler
